At the end of December 2016 we folded our @mtsd-vt.org email addresses (formerly known as the 'FirstClass email addresses') into our Google Mail system.  This means that both the @mymtsd-vt.org and @mtsd-vt.org email addresses are associated with the Google Mail accounts, and email sent to either address will deliver into your one mailbox.

By default, although you can receive email from either address, Google will only send mail as your @mymtsd-vt.org address.  We recommend you leave it at this default, particularly if you use the Google Groups mailing lists, as these are what is configured for sending permission in those lists.

However, we recognize that there may be occasions where you need to send as @mtsd-vt.org, for example if you are a member of an outside mailing list that only knows your @mtsd-vt.org email identity.  If you have a need to occasionally send as your @mtsd-vt.org identity, you may use the steps below to add this feature to your account:

  1. In Google Mail, click on the gear ('Settings') button in the upper-right corner.  Choose Settings.  Click the Accounts tab.

  2. On the second line, "Send Mail As", click on the "Add another email address" link.

  3. The 'Name' box will pull in your current Google display name.  Leave this as-is.

  4. In the 'Email address' box, type in your @mtsd-vt.org email address.  Leave the 'Treat as an alias' box checked.
  5. Click 'Next Step'.  The yellow box will close.
  6. You will now see both your mymtsd and mtsd email addresses listed, with a new option box underneath.  This option is asking which email address you want to use as your default.  Leave this as-is.

  7. To switch between sending addresses, you will notice a new box on the Compose or Reply window, titled "From".  This is a drop-down box that allows you to choose which email address you are sending out as.  Choose the sending email address and continue as normal.
